What are lumens?

Lumens measure the amount of visible light produced by a fixture. A higher lumen rating generally means a brighter light, but the best choice also depends on ceiling height, room size, spacing, wall color, and the intended use of the space.

For a room-lighting plan, consider the total lumens from all fixtures rather than looking at one fixture in isolation.
